Scoping Meetings for LCA Ecosystem Restoration Projects
Scheduled for Last Week of September
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), in partnership with the State of Louisiana's Office of Coastal Protection and Restoration (OCPR), is hosting a series of scoping meetings to gather public input for the planning and execution of near-term critical restoration projects identified in the Louisiana Coastal Area Ecosystem Restoration Plan (LCA Plan).
As part of the National Environmental Policy Act process for major Federal actions having a significant effect on the environment, the Corps will be hosting two scoping meetings in September to gather public input. Scoping meetings allow the public the opportunity to identify issues and alternatives to be addressed in an environmental document, which are incorporated into the Environmental Impact Statement.
What: A public scoping meeting to discuss the Stabilization of Gulf Shoreline at Point Au Fer Island project. The presentation will address ways to increase the stability of the Point Au Fer Island shoreline along the Gulf of Mexico in southwest Terrebonne Parish, LA. Restoration efforts may include rock armoring and marsh creation.

What: A public scoping meeting to discuss ways to Maintain the Land Bridge Between Caillou (Sister) Lake and the Gulf of Mexico project. The presentation will address ways to restore and maintain the land bridge between the Gulf of Mexico and Caillou (Sister) Lake in Terrebonne Parish, LA. Restoration efforts may include rock armoring and marsh creation.

The Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority's mandate is to develop, implement and enforce a comprehensive coastal protection and restoration master plan. The CPRA of Louisiana was established by Act 8 of the 1st Extraordinary Session of 2005.
