Transition Agreement Reached for Coastal Parishes

BATON ROUGE, La. -- Today State officials, the U. S. Coast Guard, BP and other representatives reached an agreement on a transition plan regarding the deployment of oil spill resources in coastal parishes.

The transition plan negotiations were completed after coastal parishes, Coast Guard and BP plans were executed covering boom, skimmers, jack up barges, other equipment and response personnel in 11 coastal parishes.

The State-Coast Guard plan was finalized following two meetings including Governor Bobby Jindal, coastal parish and police jury presidents, Coast Guard and BP representatives.

The plan is endorsed by all coastal parishes and resulted from several days of coordination among the various parties.
