Revised 2009 Annual Plan Ready for CPRA Consideration; March 19 Meeting Agenda Complete
BATON ROUGE - The Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority's Implementation Team has completed a revised version of the Fiscal Year 2009 Coastal Restoration and Hurricane Protection Annual Plan that will be submitted to the CPRA for consideration at its Wednesday, March 19 meeting at the LaSalle Building located at 617 North Third St. in Baton Rouge.
The meeting is open to the public and will begin at 9:30 in the LaBelle Room on the first floor of the LaSalle Building.
The revised draft plan contains all public comments received through March 13, 2008 and all edits suggested by the CPRA at its last meeting on February 26, 2008.
If approved by the CPRA with no edits, the current version will be submitted to the Louisiana Legislature for consideration and possible approval at the beginning of the 2008 Regular Session scheduled to open March 30.

An annual plan will be presented to the public, the CPRA and the State Legislature in advance of every fiscal year during which projects within the Comprehensive Master Plan for Coastal Restoration and Hurricane Protection will be developed. The annual plan identifies individual hurricane protection or coastal restoration projects that are ready to be designed or constructed during the coming fiscal year and the projected cost for each.

The Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority's mandate is to develop, implement and enforce a comprehensive coastal protection and restoration master plan. For the first time in Louisiana's history, this single state authority will integrate coastal restoration and hurricane protection by marshalling the expertise and resources of the Department of Natural Resources, the Department of Transportation and Development, and other state agencies, to speak with one clear voice for the future of Louisiana's coast. Working with federal, state and local political subdivisions, including levee districts, the CPRA will work to establish a safe and sustainable coast that will protect our communities, the nation's critical energy infrastructure, and our bountiful natural resources for generations to come. The CPRA of Louisiana was established by Act 8 of the 1st Extraordinary Session of 2005.
